Product Description:

It is used by certain overweight people, such as those who are obese or have weight-related medical problems. Losing weight and keeping it off can lessen the many health risks that come with obesity, including heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and a shorter life. It is not known how this medication helps people to lose weight. It may work by decreasing your appetite, increasing the amount of energy used by your body, or by affecting certain parts of the brain.

HOW FAST DOES PHENTERMINE MAKE YOU LOSE WEIGHT?

The average weight loss when taking phentermine is 3% of your initial body weight after 3 months and 5–7% after 6 months. Some people report even more weight loss than this ( 5 , 6 , 9 , 10 ).

IS PHENTERMINE A GOOD WEIGHT LOSS PILL?

A large study found that 75% of people taking phentermine/topiramate over a year lost at least 5% of their body weight, compared to 23% of people taking a placebo.

HOW DOES PHENTERMINE WORK FOR WEIGHT LOSS?

Phentermine should only be used for short-term use (less than 12 weeks at a time) to help with weight loss. It works by activating your sympathetic (“fight or flight”) nervous system, so it’s called a “sympathomimetic” drug or “stimulant.”

Phentermine may help lower your appetite, so people who take phentermine tend to eat less. This can lead to an energy deficit (meaning you are burning more calories than you are eating) and potential weight loss.

If you have obesity (or overweight with health-related complications) and intensive lifestyle changes have not helped you to lose weight, phentermine may be an option for you.

However, since there are risks associated with taking phentermine, the decision to start this medication is made on an individual basis and you should discuss it thoroughly with your healthcare provider.
